What are CBP Schedule K Codes?

Schedule K foreign port codes are the official identifiers that U.S. Customs and Border Protection assigns to international ports of lading and unlading. These codes appear on entry documents, bills of lading, and Automated Broker Interface transmissions whenever goods originate from or transit through a foreign location before arriving in the United States. Each code uniquely identifies a specific port within a country, enabling CBP to track the origin and routing of imported merchandise.

Unlike the UN/LOCODE system, which covers all transport locations worldwide, Schedule K codes are maintained specifically for US trade compliance purposes. They determine which CBP regulations, duty rates, and trade program eligibility apply based on country of origin. Importers and brokers must use the correct Schedule K code to avoid entry rejections, delays in cargo release, and potential penalties for misidentifying the foreign port of lading.
