Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of cleaning brushes from China. Dear Ms. Pendris: In your letter dated December 2, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling. As requested, the sample brushes will be returned to you. Item #69105 consists of a set of two cleaning brushes. Each brush is composed of a polypropylene handle with a brush-head of polypropylene bristles. The total length of each brush, including the handle, is approximately 10½ inches. One brush is 1 inch wide, slightly curved, and has a fingertip handle for extra scrubbing power, while the other brush is ½ of an inch wide and has a curved design for getting around hard to reach areas. These brushes are intended for cleaning tiled surfaces, floors, shower stalls, faucets and the like. The applicable subheading for the cleaning brushes, will be 9603.90.8050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Brooms, brushes…..: Other: Other, Other.” The rate of duty will be 2.8% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
