Search the System for Award Management for registered government entities, contractors, and grantees. Verify registration status, UEI, and CAGE codes.
The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is the official US government website for entity registration and federal award data. Any organization that wants to do business with the federal government — whether through contracts, grants, or other assistance — must register in SAM.gov and maintain an active registration. The system replaced the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), ORCA, and EPLS databases.
Each registered entity receives a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), which replaced the DUNS number in April 2022. Entities also maintain CAGE (Commercial and Government Entity) codes for NATO and defense procurement. Registration must be renewed annually to remain active.
For maritime and logistics companies, SAM.gov registration is essential for federal port infrastructure contracts, MARAD programs, Army Corps of Engineers dredging projects, and Coast Guard vessel service agreements. Customs brokers and freight forwarders use SAM.gov to verify contractor eligibility and check for exclusions before engaging with government-funded cargo operations.
