SUMMARY: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is taking final action to approve elements of a state implementation plan (SIP) submittal from the State of California to meet Clean Air Act (CAA) “Extreme” nonattainment area requirements for the 1997 8-hour ozone national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) in the Riverside Co. (Coachella Valley), CA nonattainment area (“Coachella Valley”). We are specifically approving the reasonable further progress (RFP) demonstration and the vehicle miles traveled demonstration.
