Newport Center Drive Deerfield Beach, FL 33442 RE: The tariff classification of aluminum profiles from Canada Dear Mr. Sosa: In your letter dated August 12, 2026, you requested a tariff classification ruling. A representative sample, Mapei® part number PPS-91057, was included with your submission and will be retained by this office. The products under consideration are identified as aluminum profiles used to protect, enhance, and provide a professional finish to corners, edges, and joints in ceramic tile installations, flooring, and walls. According to your submission, these L-shaped profiles are made from type 6063 aluminum alloy and have been extruded. Following the extrusion process, the profiles undergo additional finishing operations to include the punching/perforation of oval and rectangular shaped holes along their entire length. You indicate that all your aluminum profiles are melted, casted and entirely manufactured in Canada. The profiles are available in painted, anodized, and natural finishes and will be imported in approximately eight-foot lengths. The applicable subheading for the aluminum profiles will be 7604.29.1010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for aluminum bars, rods and profiles: of aluminum alloys: other: other profiles: heat-treatable industrial alloys of a kind described in statistical note 7 to this chapter. The general rate of duty will be 5 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided at https://hts.usitc.gov/current. This ruling does not address the applicability of any additional duties, taxes, fees, exactions and/or other charges, which may apply to the goods discussed herein. This includes, but is not limited to, tariffs and other duties as provided for in Subchapter III to Chapter 99, HTSUS. Thus, for example, in addition to the classification stated above, the merchandise covered by this ruling may also need to be reported with either the Chapter 99 provision under which an additional tariff applies or one of the Chapter 99 provisions covering exceptions to such tariffs.
