The subject product, Ropivacaine Hydrochloride Monohydrate, is a local anesthetic of the amide type with analgesic activity. It is indicated for the production of local or regional anesthesia for surgery and for acute pain management. The applicable subheading for the Ropivacaine Hydrochloride Monohydrate, imported in bulk powder form, will be 2933.39.4100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Compounds containing an unfused pyridine ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure: Other: Other: Drugs: Other.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free.
