The subject product is called Triethyl O-Acetylcitrate (CAS# 77-89-4)) imported in liquid form. It is an ester of citric acid. It is indicated for industrial use, as a cosmetic additive, for pharmaceutical use, as raw material for paint, and as a plasticizer. The applicable subheading for Triethyl O-Acetylcitrate (CAS# 77-89-4)), will be 2918.15.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Carboxylic acids with additional oxygen function and their anhydrides, halides, peroxides and peroxyacids; their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives: Carboxylic acids with alcohol function but without other oxygen function, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their derivatives: Salts and esters of citric acid: Other.” The rate of duty will be 3.7% ad valorem.
