N276937 July 19, 2016 CLA-2-85:OT:RR:NC:N4:112 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 8501.31.6000 Jesse Emanual Valdez BBB Industries LLC 29627 Renaissance Blvd Daphne, AL 36526 RE: The tariff classification of an electric motor assembly from multiple countries Dear Mr. Valdez: In your letter dated June 23, 2016 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The item under consideration is an electric motor assembly which is used in electronic power steering applications. The motor assembly is described as a 12V DC motor having an integrated electric control unit. The control unit consists of two printed circuit board assemblies, electrical connectors, and a cover/base that is directly mounted to the motor. On the exterior of the motor assembly are multi-pin electrical connectors that connect to onboard vehicle systems. You state that the motor has an output of 1 horsepower, which is equivalent to 746 Watts. The applicable subheading for the electric motor assembly will be 8501.31.6000, HTSUS, which provides for "Electric motors…: Other DC motors;…: Of an output not exceeding 750 W: Other. The general duty rate will be 2.4%. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
