N257069 October 3, 2014 CLA-2-58:OT:RR:NC:N3:350 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 5808.10.7000 Ms. Alina Vornicu Cousin Corporation of America 12333 Enterprise Boulevard Largo, FL 33773 RE: The tariff classification of decorative braid from China Dear Ms. Vornicu: In your letter dated September 5, 2014, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You have submitted a sample of a decorative braid, Item 30211149. The fiber content is listed as 100% polyester. A decorative braided or plaited cord such as this, neither tightly braided nor with a compact structure, is considered a braided fabric of heading 5808, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), for classification purposes. The braid is composed of a soft four-ply core, which is covered by a six-ply braided sheath. Each ply of the sheath is four millimeters wide and is composed of brightly colored woven polyester fabric. The applicable subheading for the decorative braid, Item 30211149, will be 5808.10.7000, HTSUS, which provides for Braids in the piece; ornamental trimmings in the piece, without embroidery, other than knitted or crocheted; tassels, pompons and similar articles: Braids in the piece: Other: Of cotton or man-made fibers. The rate of duty will be 7.4 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
