Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of a clock from China Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated July 24, 2013 you requested a tariff classification ruling of a wall clock. A sample of item number 9026013, which you call a “Wall Clock Safe,” was included with your request. The product is an analog wall clock made of plastic with a quartz battery powered movement. The clock measures 10 inches in diameter and the face is hinged on one side to cover a shelved compartment that can hold small items such as money or keys. The clock requires one AA battery to operate. The battery is not included. The applicable subheading for the quartz battery powered wall clock will be 9105.21.80, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other clocks: wall clocks: electrically operated: other. The rate of duty will be 30 cents each plus 6.9 percent on the case plus 5.3 percent on the battery. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
