Box 22292 Phoenix, AZ 85028-2292 RE: The tariff classification of a plastic tripod from China Dear Mr. Zodl: In your letter dated September 14, 2012, on behalf of the International Import-Export Institute, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The tripod, which is composed entirely of plastics, is said to be specially designed to mount to a digital camera such as the Canon PowerShot A1300. The telescoping legs can expand from 12 inches in height to 36 inches in height, thereby making the tripod suitable for use on a table top or the floor or ground. The applicable subheading for the plastic tripod will be 3926.90.9980, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other articles of plastics, other. The rate of duty will be 5.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
