Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of Comfort Grips from China Dear Ms. Pendris: In your letter dated June 2, 2011, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You submitted a sample of a set of two comfort grips, item number 69780. The comfort grips can be wrapped around the handles of tools or buckets to provide the user with a more comfortable grasp. They are made of a sandwich construction of front and back panels of polyester fabric laminated to a 1/8”-thick rubber pad in the center. The edges are capped with a braided trim. The grips each measure approximately 6-1/2” long and 4-1/2” wide. When wrapped over a handle, hook-and-loop fasteners secure the grips in place. They come two to a package. The applicable subheading for the Comfort Grips, item 69780, will be 6307.90.9889, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other made up textile articles, other. The rate of duty will be 7% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on the World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. The samples will be retained with our case file. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
