The subject product, Ixabepilone, also known as azaepothilone B, is a semi-synthetic epothilone B analog. The epothilones and their analogs constitute a novel class of antineoplastic agents, produced by the myxobacterium Sorangium cellulosum. Ixabepilone is indicated in combination with capecitabine for the treatment of patients with metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer resistant to treatment with an anthracycline and a taxane, or whose cancer is taxane resistant and for whom further anthracycline therapy is contraindicated. The applicable subheading for Ixabepilone, imported in bulk form, will be 2941.90.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Antibiotics: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
