Box 988 Warren, PA 16365 RE: The tariff classification of a travel mug from China Dear Ms. Sampson: In your letter dated December 11, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample you submitted will be returned to you as requested. The merchandise is identified as the “Steel Mercury” travel coffee mug (item number ST-16ME). It is designed to fit in the cup holder of an automobile. The mug has a stainless steel outer shell, a plastic liner and a plastic lip. The lid is made of stainless steel and plastic. The mug measures approximately 7.75 inches high by 3.5 inches wide, and tapers down to 2.5 inches wide at its base. It holds 16 ounces of liquid. The applicable subheading for the travel mug will be 7323.93.0080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for table, kitchen or other household articles and parts thereof, of iron or steel, other, of stainless steel, other. The rate of duty will be 2 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
