Oliver Wichita, Kansas 67210 RE: The tariff classification of the Charger Main Battery, (P/N C3808-900) from Canada Dear Mr. Adams: In your letter dated November 17, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise under consideration is referred to as a Charger Main Battery. It is a recharging component that will provide recharge input to an aircraft’s main battery. It is a DC to DC regulated converter unit. The Charger Main Battery will be installed into a specially designed equipment rack to carry electrical/electronic avionic components (designated as the E1/E2 rack), and will be installed in the lower portion of Section 41 (nose section) of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The applicable subheading for the Charger Main Battery, (P/N C3808-900) will be 8504.40.9580, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Electrical transformers, static converters (for example, rectifiers) and inductors; parts thereof: Static converters: Other: Other." The General rate of duty will be Free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
