Meeting Street Dandridge, TN 37725 RE: The tariff classification of a tote bag from China Dear Ms. Collier: In your letter dated June 10, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your sample will be returned to you. Style 8761 is a tote bag constructed with an outer surface of 100% polyester textile material. The bag is designed to provide storage, organization, protection and portability for clothing and other personal effects during travel. The interior of the bag has a zippered compartment in the center. The interior is also textile-lined. The bag has double webbed carrying handles and an open top that secures with a snap closure. Both ends of the bag have open pockets with hook-and-loop closures. It measures approximately 12” (W) x 13.5” (H) x 7.25” (D). The applicable subheading for style 8761 will be 4202.92.3031, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for travel, sports and similar bags, with outer surface of textile materials, other, of man-made fibers, other. The duty rate will be 17.6 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
