Thompson Benteler Automotive 1780 Pond Run Auburn Hills, MI 48326 RE: The tariff classification of a bracket for a motor vehicle Dear Ms. Thompson: In your letter dated June 1, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise under consideration is called an “ARS Blank Holder,” part number 6776739. It is a bracket made of stamped steel that attaches to the front center subframe of a motor vehicle and functions to hold the stabilizer hoses in place. It has a mounting hole that is used for attaching the ARS lines to the bracket, a second hole for mounting the bracket to the subframe, and a tab that prevents the bracket from rotating with respect to the subframe. The applicable subheading for the steel mounting bracket will be 8302.30.3060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for base metal mountings, fittings and similar articles, other mountings, fittings and similar articles suitable for motor vehicles; and parts thereof, of iron or steel, of aluminum or of zinc, other.
