Robinson Worldwide, Inc. 14800 Charlson Road, Suite 400 Eden Prairie, MN 55347-5048 RE: The tariff classification of a food ingredient from Thailand Dear Mr. Anderson: In your letter dated May 11, 2009 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client Omni-Chem. The product, identified as designation code MP-AMPRO N10, is described as a sodium tripolyphosphate blend consisting of 90 percent sodium tripolyphosphate and 10 percent sodium hexametaphosphate. The product is indicated for use in the food industry as an ingredient in meats. The sodium polyphosphate and sodium hexametaphosphate, both products of Thailand, are blended together in Thailand, and packaged for export to the United States in 25 kilogram polyethylene lined paper bags. The sodium tripolyphosphate blend is a mixture of two inorganic compounds. The applicable subheading for the sodium tripolyphosphate blend will be 3824.90.3900, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Prepared binders for foundry molds or cores; chemical products and preparations of the chemical or allied industries (including those consisting of mixtures of natural products), not elsewhere specified or included: Other: Other: Mixtures of two or more inorganic compounds: Other. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
