Box 56710 Seattle, WA 98138 RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s sweater from China. Dear Ms. Mendoza: In your letter dated February 19, 2009, you requested a classification ruling. Your sample is being returned as requested. The submitted sample, style J3SKA65, is a woman’s pullover style sweater that is constructed from 55% ramie, 41% acrylic, 4% wool knit fabric. The outer surface of the fabric measures 9 or fewer stitches per 2 centimeters in the direction that the stitches were formed. The garment features a ribbed cowl collar, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs, and a ribbed bottom. The applicable subheading for the sweater will be 6110.90.9042, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sweaters, knitted: of other textile materials: sweaters for women and girls: other:…other. The duty rate will be 6% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
