Pepper Co., Inc. 82 Pine Street, Suite 202 Freeport, NY 11520 RE: The tariff classification of a tie and belt hanger from China Dear Mr. Prackler: In your letter dated January 22, 2009, on behalf of EZ DO INC., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample which you submitted is being retained by this office. The merchandise under consideration is described as a Tie and Belt Holder, item number 7404221. It consists of a base metal hook for hanging over a closet rod, a vertical wood shaft attached below the hook, and eight base metal rectangular-shaped hooks that are attached to either side of the shaft. Each hook swivels and is spaced to facilitate the hanging and storage of belts and ties. The applicable subheading for the tie and belt hanger will be 8302.50.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for base metal mountings, fittings and similar articles…hat-racks, hat pegs, brackets and similar fixtures, and parts thereof. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
