Box 961020 Fort Worth, Texas 76161-0020 RE: The tariff classification of a rug from India Dear Ms. Chapa: In your letter dated September 11, 2008 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample, identified as SKU 2345206, is a corner piece of a rug. The rug is composed of 85 percent jute and 15 percent cotton yarns. It is made up of multiple squares of different yarns and textures. The warp yarns extend to form a fringe. It is a hand woven rug with shared warps in a manner similar to a “Kelem” type construction using discontinuous weft yarns. The rug will be made in other versions that are only different in size and yarn colors (SKU’s 2345206, 2347638, 2347900 and 2347913). The applicable subheading for the rug will be 5702.10.9090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for carpets and other textile floor coverings, woven, not tufted or flocked, whether or not, made up, including “Kelem”, “Schumacks”, “Karamanie” and similar hand-woven rugs: “Kelem”, “Schumacks”, “Karamanie” and similar hand-woven rugs: other… other. The duty rate will be Free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
