Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of a wall-mounted hook from India Dear Ms. Ramsey: In your letter dated August 13, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample which you submitted is being retained by this office. The merchandise under consideration is described as a Single Rose Hook, SKU# 66360. It is a wall-mounted hook made of iron that features a decorative rose embellishment at its top. It includes a keyhole plate at its back and a screw for mounting. It measures approximately 4-7/8 inches long by 2-1/2 inches wide and can hold up to 4 lbs. The literature you supplied indicates that it can be mounted to the back of a bedroom door or in a closet for extra hanging space and can also be used in a bathroom for hanging towels or bathrobes. The applicable subheading for the wall-mounted hook will be 8302.50.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for base metal mountings, fittings and similar articles…hat-racks, hat pegs, brackets and similar fixtures, and parts thereof. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
