Chivini Austin Chemical Company, Inc. 1565 Barclay Boulevard Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089 RE: The tariff classification of 5-Bromo-1-tetralone, CAS No. 68449-30-9, imported in bulk form, from the Netherlands Dear Mr. Chivini: In your letter dated April 9, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling for 5-Bromo-1-tetralone, which you have stated will be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading will be 2914.70.4000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Ketones and quinones, whether or not with other oxygen function, and their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated, or nitrosated derivatives: Aromatic: Other. The rate of duty will be 5.5 percent ad valorem.      Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
