Chivini Austin Chemical Company, Inc. 1565 Barclay Boulevard Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089 RE: The tariff classification of Bis(N-succinimidyl) carbonate, CAS No. 72124-79-1, imported in bulk form, from Japan Dear Mr. Chivini: In your letter dated February 27, 2008 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject product, Bis(N-succinimidyl) carbonate, also known as 2,5-Pyrrolidinedione, 1,1'-[carbonylbis(oxy)]bis-, is a carboxyimide function compound indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading for Bis(N-succinimidyl) carbonate will be 2925.19.9100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Carboxyimide-function compounds (including saccharin and its salts) and imine-function compounds: Imides and their derivatives; salts thereof: Other: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 3.7 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
