Box 60906 Houston, TX 77205 RE: The tariff classification of a men’s woven shirt from India. Dear Ms. Luna: In your letter dated December 10, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Cottex dba Tiger Hill. As requested, your sample will be returned. Style 1003 is a men’s shirt constructed from 65% polyester, 35% cotton, solid color, woven fabric. Style 1003 was submitted in size XL and features a button down point collar; a left over right, full front opening with seven button closures; a patch pocket on the left chest; long vented sleeves with button closures at the cuffs; and a curved, hemmed bottom. The applicable subheading for Style 1003 will be 6205.30.2070, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTSUS), which provides for men’s or boys’ shirts: of man-made fibers: other: other: other: other: men’s. The duty rate is 29.1 cents per kg. plus 25.9% ad valorem. Style 1003 falls within textile category designation 640. With the exception of certain products of China, quota/visa requirements are no longer applicable for merchandise which is the product of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries. The textile category number above applies to merchandise produced in non-WTO member-countries. Quota and visa requirements are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes.
