Box 516 8410 Sandidge Road Olive Branch, MS 38654 RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s cardigan from China. Dear Ms. Ginn: In your letter dated May 4, 2007 and additional information submitted in this office on June 6, 2007, you requested a classification ruling. Your sample is being returned. The submitted sample, style 7573, is a woman’s cardigan that is constructed from 100% cotton ridge-like knit fabric. The outer surface of the garment measures more than 9 stitches per 2 centimeters in the direction that the stitches were formed. The garment features a modified shawl collar, long hemmed sleeves, a full front opening with 4 button closures, 2 front inset pockets below the waist, 2 side slits, and a hemmed bottom. A “landau” label is sewn on the left pocket. The applicable subheading for the cardigan will be 6110.20.2079, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) which provides for sweaters…and similar articles, knitted: of cotton: other…other: women’s. The duty rate will be 16.5% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. With the exception of certain products of China, quota/visa requirements are no longer applicable for merchandise which is the product of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries. The textile category number above applies to merchandise produced in non-WTO member-countries. Quota and visa requirements are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes.
