Grand Rapids, MI 49504 RE: The tariff classification of travel pouch from China Dear Mr. Morse: In your letter dated April 23, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Meijer Distribution. Your sample will be returned as requested. The sample submitted is identified as item number 533548. The item is a generic travel pouch designed to contain small personal effects during travel. It is constructed with an outer surface of plastic sheeting material. The pouch features a single interior storage compartment with a non-woven textile lining and a top zippered opening. The bag measures approximately 8.5” (W) x 4” (H) x 1.25” (D). The applicable subheading for the pouch will be 4202.92.4500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for travel, sports and similar bags, with outer surface of sheeting of plastic, other. The rate of duty will be 20% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
