Chivini Austin Chemical Company, Inc. 1565 Barclay Boulevard Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089 RE: The tariff classification of 1-Trimethylacetyl imidazole 98% (CAS 4195-19-1), imported in bulk form, from Germany and China Dear Mr. Chivini: In your letter dated April 1, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling for 1-Trimethylacetyl imidazole 98%, also known as 1-Propanone, 1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) -2, 2-dimethyl-, which you have stated will be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading will be 2933.29.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: compounds containing an unfused imidazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure: other. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
