Ltd. 45875 Northport Loop East Fremont, CA 94538 RE: The tariff classification of knit shawl from China. Dear Ms. Giang: In your letter dated August 8, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling. As requested, the sample will be returned to you. Your submitted sample is a knit polyester fleece shoulder wrap. The shawl measures approximately 88 inches in length and 22 inches wide. The shawl has a satin edging and the bottom of the shawl has pockets. The applicable subheading for the shawl will be 6117.10.2030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other made up clothing or accessories, knitted or crocheted; knitted or crocheted parts of garments or clothing accessories: shawls, scarves, mufflers, mantillas, veils and the like: of man-made fibers, other. The rate of duty will be 11.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. The shawl falls within textile category 659. With the exception of certain products of China, quota/visa requirements are no longer applicable for merchandise which is the product of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries. The textile category number above applies to merchandise produced in non-WTO member-countries. Quota and visa requirements are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
