Dear Mr. Chivini: In your letter dated November 11, 2005, you requested a tariff classification ruling for of 2-Bromothiazole-5-Carboxylic Acid which you have stated will be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading will be 2934.10.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other heterocyclic compounds: compounds containing an unfused thiazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure: other. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.   Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
