NY K89798 October 18, 2004 CLA-2-84:RR:NC:1:102 K89798 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 8412.90.9015 Mr. Edmundo Torner Edmundo Torner, CHB 8025 N.W. 36th Street (Suite 319) Miami, Florida 33166 RE: The tariff classification of hydraulic fittings and their parts from Malaysia Dear Mr. Torner: In your letter dated September 22, 2004 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Norex International. The articles in question are described as hydraulic fittings and parts of hydraulic fittings, such as nipples and shells, which are used the assembly of the fittings. The fittings are used in conjunction with hose to form fluid connections within hydraulic systems. Descriptive literature and pictures were submitted. Fittings that are principally used to connect the components of hydraulic systems, e.g., pumps, motors, etc., are classified as parts of such systems in heading 8412, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). The applicable subheading for the subject hydraulic fittings and the parts used in their assembly will be 8412.90.9015, HTSUS, which provides for other parts of other hydraulic power engines and motors. The rate of duty is free. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
