Peak PMAC Ltd. 4023 Fourth Avenue Beaver Falls, PA 15010 RE: The tariff classification of semifinished steel rounds from various countries. Dear Mr. Peak: In your letter dated August 29, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The products to be imported are described as round extrusion billets of 200, 300 and 400 series stainless steel grades. These semifinished rounds will range from 140 mm to 500 mm in diameter and from 3 m to 10 m in length. After importation, the rounds will be cut to various short lengths, reheated and extruded into a variety of tubular products, solid shapes and structural profiles. The applicable subheading for the stainless steel semifinished rounds measuring less than 232 cm² in cross-sectional area will be 7218.99.0045, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for semifinished products of stainless steel, other, other, of circular cross section, having a cross-sectional area of less than 232 cm². The rate of duty will be 1 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the stainless steel semifinished rounds measuring 232 cm² or more in cross-sectional area will be 7218.99.0060, HTS, which provides for semifinished products of stainless steel, other, other, of circular cross section, having a cross-sectional area of 232 cm² or more. The rate of duty will be 1 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
