Hydraulic 2111 E. 37th North Wichita, KS 67219 RE: The tariff classification of sleeping bag component from China Dear Ms. Llamas: In your letter dated May 3, 200l, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample submitted is a sleeping bag component. You stated that the article will be made of either a 100 percent cotton or 65 percent polyester/35 percent cotton woven fabric panel. The fabric panel is folded in half and sewn closed on the sides. The top edges are folded over and hemmed. Sewn into one edge is a textile braided drawstring cord with a plastic fitting. The other edge is folded inward to create a flap. This edge features a web fabric handle. After importation into the United States the article is sewn onto a sleeping bag to store the sleeping bag when not in use. It measures approximately 24 inches long by 32-3/8 inches wide. The applicable subheading for the sleeping bag component will be 6308.90.9989, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up articles . . . Other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
