Dear Ms. Perez: In your letter dated March 21, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You describe the item as manganese silicon alloy, which will be imported in the form of ingots and broken ingots. Its chemical analysis is as follows: Element Content in Percent Mn 76.60 Si 18.48 C 1.43 P 0.12 S 0.016 Fe 3.15 The applicable subheading for the manganese silicon alloy ingots will be 8111.00.4500, HTS, which provides for manganese and articles thereof, including waste and scrap: other: unwrought manganese. The duty rate will be 14% ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
