Airport Jamaica, NY 11430 RE: The tariff classification of two decorative glass articles from Italy Dear Mr. Juzumas: In your letter, which was received November 23, 1999, on behalf of your client, Leonard Meiselman Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. Two representative samples of the items were submitted with your ruling request. The first sample (item PB/MU) is a small decorative glass bottle with a removable glass stopper. The article measures approximately three inches in height. You indicated in your letter that the ribbon-like design in the bottle is produced from colored glass canes that are inserted into the body of the glassware prior to solidification. The applicable subheading for the small decorative glass bottle (PB/MU) will be 7013.99.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for glassware decorated with glass thread-or ribbon-like effects; embedded or introduced into the body of the glassware prior to its solidification. The rate of duty will be 17.5 percent ad valorem. The rate of duty will be 17 percent in year 2000. The second sample (item VTL 103) is a small heart-shaped decorative glass box with a removable glass lid. You indicated that the unit value of this item is $5.20. The applicable subheading for the small decorative glass box (VTL 103) will be 7013.99.9000, HTS, which provides for glassware of a kind used for table, kitchen, toilet, office, indoor decoration or similar purposes…: other glassware: other: other: other: valued over $5 each. The rate of duty will be 7.2 percent ad valorem. The rate will remain unchanged in year 2000. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
