Alban Boria, Officina 128 Guayquil, Ecuador RE: The tariff classification of knit pile fabric from Ecuador Dear Mr. Roggiero: In your fax dated August 26, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You submitted a sample of knit fabric. It is a long pile fabric that to be of man-made fiber. It measures approximately 60 inches in width. The applicable subheading for the knit fabric will be 6001.10.2000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for pile fabrics, including “long pile” fabrics, and terry fabrics, knitted or crocheted, “long pile” fabrics, of man-made fibers. The rate of duty will be 18.4 percent ad valorem. In your fax you asked if there were any special duty provisions because this fabric is from Ecuador. There are no special provisions at this time. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
