The merchandise is described in your letter as a Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (PRTD) element. These resistance elements are used in temperature measurement up to 1000 degrees Celsius. They are linear and have a positive temperature coefficient. The elements are used in the manufacture of probes for Resistance Temperature Detectors. The applicable subheading for the Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector element will be 8533.40.8070, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for "Other variable resistors... Other... Other: Other." The rate of duty will be 2.7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
