Dear Mr. Rodriguez: In your letter dated April 18, 1996 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Majexco Imports Corp. The sample submitted, item number CAR1001SP, is an AM/FM Stereo radio with cassette and two speakers. This item is for use in a motor vehicle and packaged together for retail sale. The applicable subheading for this item will be 8527.21.1015, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for reception apparatus...: radiobroadcast receivers not capable of operating without an external source of power...: combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus: radio-tape player combinations: other: cassette type: stereo The rate of duty will be 3 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
