Documents submitted to U.S. Customs for this merchandise entering the United States, originating in Italy, must declare Italy as the country of origin. Further, the merchandise itself is required to be marked to indicate its country of origin, Italy, "in a conspicuous place as legibly, indelibly, and permanently as the nature of the article...will permit in such a manner as to indicate to an ultimate purchaser in the United States the English name of the country of origin of the article." 19 U.S. C. 1304. ("EEC" has been determined not to be acceptable as such "English name of the country of origin", for the purpose of this statute.)
