NY 883230 March 24, 1993 CLA-2-85:S:N:N1:109 883230 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 8532.24.0020 Mr. Sakunthala Gnanamgari Sarad International, Inc 459 Sayre Drive Princeton, NJ 08540-5847 RE: The tariff classification of multilayer ceramic dielectric chip capacitors from India Dear Mr. Gnanamgari: In your letter dated February 18, 1993, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise is described in the submitted literature as a ceramic dielectric multilayer chip capacitor. It is a basic electronic component that is used in computers, disk drives, power supplies, telephones and other electronic equipment. The applicable subheading for the multilayer ceramic dielectric chip capacitors will be 8532.24.0020, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for "[ Multilayer ceramic dielectric chips]." The rate of duty will be 10 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction. Sincerely, Jean F.
