Box 19130 Charlotte, NC 28219 RE: The tariff classification of cabinet hardware from Hong Kong and Taiwan Dear Ms. Spivey: In your letter dated November 27, 1995, on behalf of Liberty Hardware, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Samples of your merchandise were sent to the Customs Laboratory for analysis. The merchandise consists of five styles of knobs and pulls that will be mounted on cabinet doors and drawers. Item number P50012 is a 5-inch, zinc pull with a 1.5-inch, white, ceramic center decorated with colorful flowers. Item number P95713 is a round, white, ceramic knob decorated with colorful flowers. It measures 1.5 inches in diameter and has a threaded, metal insert. Item number P96014 is a round, white, ceramic knob measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. The knob has a center hole through which extends a metal screw. Item number P50091 is a round, white, ceramic knob measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. There is a .75-inch diameter, round, raised, decorative, zinc disc on the front of the knob. Item number P30931 is a round, solid brass knob measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. The applicable subheading for item numbers P95713 and P96014 will be 6914.90.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other ceramic articles, other, other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for item numbers P50012, P50091, and P30931 will be 8302.42.3065, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for base metal mountings, fittings and similar articles suitable for furniture, doors, staircases...or the like, other mountings, fittings and similar articles, and parts thereof, other, suitable for furniture, of iron or steel, of aluminum or of zinc, other. The rate of duty will be 5 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
