APHIS Policy Regarding Importation of Animals and Animal Products

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is adopting a policy that recognizes regions, and levels of risk among those regions, with regard to the importation of animals and animal products. We are applying this policy to all species of animals regulated under the Code of Federal Regulations, title 9, chapter I, subchapter D, including, but not limited to, ruminants, swine, birds, poultry, and horses. We consider this policy to be consistent with and to meet the requirements of international trade agreements entered into by the United States.
