Energy Department, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office
The Department of Energy (DOE or Department) has determined that revised energy conservation standards for room air conditioners will result in a significant conservation of energy, are technologically feasible, and are economically justified. On this basis, the Department is today amending the existing energy conservation standards for room air conditioners. The Department projects the standards to save 0.64 quad of energy through 2030, which is likely to result in a cumulative reduction of emissions of approximately 95,000 tons of nitrogen dioxide and 54 million tons of carbon dioxide.
