Energy Department, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office
The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended, requires the Department of Energy (DOE or the Department) to administer an energy conservation program for certain major household appliances and commercial equipment. Among other program elements, the Act requires that standard methods of testing be prescribed for each covered product. Today's final rule amends the test procedures for furnaces and boilers, vented home heating equipment, and pool heaters.
