The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) invites the public, as well as local, State, Tribal, and Federal agencies, to comment on recovery permit applications to conduct activities intended to enhance the propagation and survival of endangered species under section 10(a)(1)(A) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). With some exceptions, the ESA prohibits activities affecting ESA-listed species unless the Service issues a federal authorization, such as a permit, to allow for those activities. Prior to issuing 10(a)(1) permits for endangered species the Service must invite public comment and to consider any information received during the public comment period. We will consider all information received during the public comment period, before issuing any of the requested permits.
