SUMMARY: The Office of Personnel Management proposes regulations to carry out provisions of the First Responder Fair Return for Employees on Their Initial Retirement Earned Act. The Act allows covered Federal first responders who experience a qualifying duty-related illness or injury to continue receiving Federal retirement benefits in the same manner as though they had not experienced the disability. The proposed regulations would carry out the amendments the Act made to statutory provisions relating to the Civil Service Retirement System and the Federal Employees' Retirement System.
