The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary Special Local Regulation (SLR) for certain navigable waters of the lower Chesapeake Bay, Hampton Roads, and the Elizabeth River, before, during, and after a series of events centering on a global gathering of tall ships and military ships to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States. This SLR is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and marine environment from potential hazards created by the presence of a parade of ships, fireworks, and other events that will attract large crowds of spectating vessels and result in extremely congested waters.
