We have taken this action because of the confirmation of ASF in this country. DATES: Sri Lanka was added to the list of regions APHIS considers to be affected with ASF, effective December 4, 2024. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The regulations in 9 CFR part 94 (referred to below as the regulations) govern the importation of certain animals and animal products into the United States to prevent the introduction of various animal diseases, including African swine fever (ASF). ASF is a highly contagious disease of wild and domestic swine that can spread rapidly with extremely high rates of morbidity and mortality.
