This document announces our approval of an alternative work practice (AWP) under the Clean Air Act (CAA) in response to a request to use new technology and work practices developed for removal and replacement of asbestos cement (A/C) pipe, which is regulated under the National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Asbestos. This approval specifies the operating conditions, notifications, work practices, disposal, recordkeeping and reporting requirements that must be followed to demonstrate compliance with the NESHAP for Asbestos and the approved AWP.
