SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Petitions On March 8, 2017, the Department of Commerce (the Department) received countervailing duty (CVD) petitions concerning imports of silicon metal from Australia, Brazil, and Kazakhstan, filed in proper form on behalf of Globe Specialty Metals, Inc. (the petitioner). With the exception of Kazakhstan, the remaining CVD petitions were accompanied by antidumping duty (AD) petitions concerning imports of silicon metal from the above countries and Norway. [ 1 ] The petitioner is a domestic producer of silicon metal. [ 2 ] On March 9, 2017, and March 13, 2017, the Department requested supplemental information pertaining to certain areas of the Petitions with ( printed page 16357) respect to Australia  [ 3 ] and Brazil.
